Healthy labour relations is essential in any successful organisation. All employees should know at least the basics about labour relations in organisations. The question however is what should be known on different management levels.
The purpose of this study was to determine the labour relations arcas in which various management levels in organisations needs training. training needs for top, middle and lower management levels were identified and prioritised.
Some of the major findings of this study are:
Training in negotiations is viewed by all three management levels as very important.
The need for training in the formulations of labour relations policy was regarded as second highest priority.
Other high priority items included communication structures, disciplinary procedure and grievance procedures and the role of management and workers.
